NOAA: Summer preview on Tuesday

Highs will approach 60's here, warmer off-Cape

From the National Weather Service:

Who's ready for summer?

Well you'll get a good preview on Tuesday when highs top out in the 80s across parts of southern New England. Check out our forecast highs below.

Record highs may be broken which include:

Worcester (ORH): 80 in 1945
Providence (PVD) and Windsor Locks (BDL): 79 in 1955
Boston (BOS): 78 in 1955

In addition, we may see a few thunderstorms reach western Massachusetts Tuesday evening. It's even possible we see one or two severe storms with damaging wind gusts being the main threat. The main time frame is between 5 PM and 10 PM.

While areas to the west of New England are more favored for severe weather right now, we can't rule it out here either. Areas in the dark green shading in the image below have the greatest chance, but even there it should be limited.

On Wednesday, the possibility of seeing a few severe storms will shift east, into northeast Connecticut, Rhode Island, and eastern Massachusetts. However, this is very dependent on how fast early morning clouds and showers exit the region. If it remains cloudy on Wednesday, that would limit the threat.

As always, stay tuned for updates!
