From the Cape Light Compact:
Old refrigerators and freezers can be extremely inefficient compared to newer models and require significant amounts of energy to operate, which in turn means higher-than-necessary energy costs. Removing these old units if they are no longer needed, or else upgrading them to new ENERGY STAR® certified models, is a great way to save energy and money this spring.
Mass Save rebates on refrigerator and freezer recycling available through the Cape Light Compact provide an opportunity for even greater savings. From April 15, 2017 through May 31, 2017, the Cape Light Compact is raising its $50 rebate for recycling a refrigerator or freezer to $100 per unit.
This limited-time rebate is available to households and small businesses on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. To be eligible, the refrigerator or freezer must be in working order and have inside measurements between 10 and 30 cubic feet. Only two units per account will be accepted each calendar year.
To receive this $100 rebate, visit MassSave.com/Recycle or call 1-877-889-4761 between April 15, 2017 and May 31, 2017 to schedule your unit for pickup. Units must be picked up by June 30, 2017 in order to qualify for the $100 rebate.
An authorized Mass Save vendor will pick up the unit for no cost, and you will receive your rebate through mail. In advance of the pickup, please make sure:
Customers who sign up after May 31, 2017, will still be eligible for a $50 rebate. Neither the limited-time $100 rebate nor the $50 rebate can be combined with any other utility or energy efficiency service provider offer.
