The Warriors baseball team at Eastern Connecticut State University is amid its 2017 spring season. Currently, it has a record of 12-9. On the roster is Collin Russell '18 of Sandwich who plays third base and majors in Physical Education.

In 2016 the Warriors (23-19 overall) earned their second Little East Conference Championship in three years. Head Coach Matt LaBranche says this year's team has the depth to utilize the whole roster a bit more than last year, as most of the starters from last year's squad are returning and will continue to fill key roles.

Speaking of Russell, Coach LaBranche said, "With Adams graduating last year, I think Russell will get the first chance to start."

A team strength this year lies in the fact that no less than eight everyday players are left-handed hitters, three of who are returning starters.

Overall, Eastern is scheduled for 15 home games and 14 road games up north. The Little East tournament is scheduled for May 10-13. NCAA tournament play begins with eight regional tournaments May 17-21, followed by the national tournament in Grand Chute, WI, on Memorial Day weekend.
