Outermost Contra Dance, May 19th at 7 p.m.

Held at Wellfleet Preservation Hall

WHAT: Outermost Contra Dance

WHEN: Friday, May 19, 7:00 PM

WHERE: Wellfleet Preservation Hall, 335 Main Street, Wellfleet

CALLER: Rich Sbardella

MUSICIANS: Rose Clancy and John Alden

Come out and dance the old time dances of New England, to the traditional musical repertoires of New England, Canada, the British Isles and Appalachia. Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. No fancy footwork - all dances are led by a professional caller, and the music is always live and lively!

This month we feature New England caller Rich Sbardella. Rich has been calling dances throughout New England for about 25 years. Rich calls contras, square dances, community, and family dances. Rich will be accompanied by local Chatham celebrity Rose Clancy, with John Alden on bass.

Outermost Contra is one of many contradances on the Cape, and was organized in December of 2014.  The contradance is family friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels.

Each dance starts with a “Contra Skills” session for dancers of all levels. Come early, whether you are a beginner or an experienced dancer who wants to refine your moves.

Note the new start time of 7:00.  Community potluck at 6:00. Suggested donation is $10. $20 maximum per group.

Outermost Contra hosts traditional New England contradances on the Outer Cape with live music every third Friday of each month.
