Eleven Falmouth Road Race runners raised more than $37,500 for the Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition

Barnstable, MA September 6, 2017

Eleven runners in the 2017 Falmouth Road Race raised more than $37,500, in support of the Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition.

The mission of the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition is to help give Cape Cod and Island communities the necessary information and tools to raise awareness, promote education, and increase action to reduce suicides.

The funds raised support suicide prevention trainings for local organizations, schools and Cape & Islands communities. We offer a variety of trainings targeted to different audiences. QPR (Question Persuade and Refer) Training, offered at no charge, is for anyone in the community to learn how to recognize a mental health emergency and how to get a person-at-risk connected to the help they need.

During FY 2017 the coalition provided suicide prevention training to more than 650 participants. Anyone interested in receiving training should go to our website: www.suicideispreventable.net  or contact the coalition at: [email protected]
