The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Jeremy Alley-Tarter, of Oak Bluffs, has earned a coveted spot on the 2017 Assumption College Men's Cross Country team. Alley-Tarter, Class of 2018, is competing during the Greyhounds' fall season, which began with the Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm College on September 2.

"This team shows incredible promise due to a combination of substantive talent and a commitment to athletic and academic excellence," said Trent Baltzell, who was promoted to head coach of the cross country and track and field teams after serving as an assistant in the program for the last two years. "As a team, we are eagerly anticipating a successful season marked by hard work and determination."

Last season, the Men's Cross Country team finished sixth in the Northeast10 Conference President's Cup and 12th at the NCAA East Regional, improving the previous year's 18th place finish.
