For the second year in a row, the main streets of Sandwich Village will come alive with the sound of local musicians performing on the porches of downtown homes and businesses on Sunday afternoon, October 8th from 1 to 5 at Sandwich Porch Fest 2017, a free family-friendly event.

New this year is “Last Porch” from 5 to 6 pm, where all the musicians gather at Horizons on the Bay Restaurant for one last hour of playing together for the public.

The talent, organized by Kim Moberg, singer/songwriter and founder of Sandwich Porch Fest, features an eclectic group of over two dozen musicians covering a range of genres from blues, pop and jazz to oldies, folk, country and Irish jigs and reels.

Several talented local students will be also featured including a group of 5th through 9th grade violinists, and a budding singer/songwriter.

Kim Moberg explains why she decided to create the Sandwich Porch Fest. “I’ve played the past two years at the Wellfleet Porch Fest and it was such a wonderful community event that I thought it would be a good fit for Sandwich Arts Alliance, an organization that supports so many artists in the area.”

Hosting the artists are the porches of historic homes such as 14 School Street, home of Diane Scharf and Elizabeth Grauer; 6 School Street, home of Christie Lowrance; and the Roger and Elizabeth Barrette home at 164 Main Street.

Downtown businesses and organizations offering their porches include The Weather Store, The Brown Jug, Next Door Burger Bar, Home for the Holidays, Sandwich Public Library, St John’s Episcopal Church, and Beth’s Bakery & Café.

Two-time host, Beth Giampietro, owner of Beth’s Bakery & Café said about the event, “I love the idea! Who doesn’t love music? It showcases the artists. It reminds me of New Orleans where you can walk down the street and hear musicians playing. Most of all, though, it’s just fun!”

Sandwich Arts Alliance suggests bringing a folding chair to this free event so you can sit back and enjoy the music, the people and the fun.
