FBI/IRS Scam: Falmouth Resident Robbed of Over $800

The IRS and FBI will NEVER call you asking for Walmart gift cards...

From the Falmouth Police Department:

IRS Scam for $800+ (Falmouth).

A citizen of our community recently received a call from a scammer using the name of a legitimate FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation Agent found on the agency’s website.

The FBI imposter told the victim she owed the IRS more than $800. He further stated that his identity could be verified by checking the FBI’s website.

The imposter told her to pick up a Walmart Gift Card and he would call back later.

Later, the imposter asked for the gift card number and PIN. He then told the victim to mail the gift card to the legitimate FBI Agent at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Of course by the time the gift card arrived it would have a balance of zero.

Please note, the IRS, nor the FBI will call your home requesting funds—especially gift cards.
