Friendly neighborhood tavern serving traditional American fare with an Irish flare...
Murphy's on Main is Hyannis' newest restaurant and a taste treat! (Pat Brooks photo)

Scott Weichel, the new owner, purchased Murphy's On Main, previously Kelly's On Main, and opened in early May.

The dining room was bright, cheerful and welcoming. Art work created by local Cape artists decorated the walls throughout.

Seating is a combination of tables and chairs, high tops and at the bar.  There are 10 TV's.

Serving pub fare with an Irish accent in a relaxed family atmosphere. The fully-stocked bar offers a nice variety of cocktails, craft beer and wine.

The menu prepared by Chef Faren, starts with bar snacks such as wings, fried pickle spears, nachos and burgers to name a few.

The entree dish options include the classic fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, chowder, pasta, steak, short ribs and nightly specials.

After cocktails an appetizer sampler arrived on a platter filled with fried pickles, onion rings, Murphy's Irish cigars, and sea salted French fries with two dipping sauces. It's a Monday night special for only $5.  There's enough for the entire table to share.

I tried the Cape Cod chowder. Cup ($4) Bowl ($6). This classic clam chowder was hot, thick, and creamy, with lots of fresh clams.

My husband was very happy with his entree choice of the Four-hour Short Ribs ($23).  The tender beef was braised for four hours in a special house recipe and served atop mashed potatoes surrounded with summer squash.

For my entree I ordered Shepherd's Pie ($12). This traditional Irish comfort dish was house-made and consisted of ground beef, peas and carrots, topped with a hefty pile of potatoes, cheese  and gravy. It arrived bubbling hot and was very tasty. I would have preferred a little less cheese on the top.

A few house made desserts such as Cookie sundae, Snickers pie and Lava cake looked interesting.

We decided to share the decadent Molten Lava cake ($6.50).  This warm chocolate cake was filled with hot fudge and artfully topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. It melted in our mouths and wasn't overly sweet. Delicious!

The daily specials include:

  • Monday The appetizer sampler $5
  • Tuesday Burger and a draft $9.99
  • Wednesday Cheese flat bread pizza $6
  • Thursday Short Rib nachos $9.99
  • Friday  Fish and chips $12.99
  • Saturday and Sunday American or Traditional Irish breakfast  and a bloody Mary or Mimosa

Our server Jordan took very good care of us..

We wish them the best.
