Wareham Police Arrest Local Man Following OUI Report

Turned away from canal cruise for intoxication, then drove away in his car...

From the Wareham Police Department:

Wareham Police arrested a man for operating under the influence of alcohol on Saturday, July 21 after he was reportedly turned away from a canal cruise due to being intoxicated.

Officer Steven Soqui responded to the call in Onset Center around 9:50 a.m where the suspect, Wayne Zuendel, 56, of Wareham, had allegedly driven away from the pier after being denied entry by employees.

Soqui observed Zuendel's car on Depot Street and stopped it along Cranberry Highway. Zuendel was placed under arrest after observation by Officer Soqui.

Zuendel was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

He is scheduled to appear in Wareham District Court today.
