From the National Weather Service:
Snow will begin in western New England Tuesday afternoon and is expected to reach the coast Tuesday evening. Warmer air will arrive Tuesday night, which should change the snow to rain in Providence and Boston, and possibly as far inland as Hartford, Springfield, Worcester, and Lawrence.
Rain may change back to a brief period of snow early Wednesday morning before ending. During the day Wednesday, arctic air will arrive on gusty northwest winds.
Right now we expect the highest snowfall totals from the Berkshires into northern Worcester County. Winter Storm Watches have been issued for these locations, where we are forecasting 4 to 8 inches of snow.
Plan now for the possibility of slippery travel. The Tuesday evening commute may be affected in Hartford, Springfield, and Worcester. Most of what falls (snow or rain) will occur Tuesday night.
