Hyannis: On March 1st, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands (BBBS) launched a “30 Guys in 30 Days” campaign to recruit more male mentors on the Cape & Martha’s Vineyard. With almost 80 youth currently on the waitlist, 63% being boys, the agency has a goal of recruiting 30 male volunteers this month to match more boys with a Big Brother.
“Since launching the campaign we have had 13 men step up to be a mentor,” says JR Mell, Regional Director for BBBS. “Being almost halfway through the month and on track to reach this goal has our whole team energized for the number of boys we will be able to serve!”
Mell says the response from the community has been great so far with partnerships from CCYP & the Entrepreneurial Networking Group of Cape Cod. In addition the agency has added three events where potential volunteers can learn more about becoming a mentor. The events are being held during March on Martha’s Vineyard as well as Falmouth. Details and information about each event is below, and RSVP’s are encouraged!
Anyone interested in volunteering or learning more can visit the BBBS website: https://www.bbbsmb.org/30-guys-30-days/. Groups or organizations who may want to help BBBS with this campaign may contact JR Mell, Regional Director at [email protected] or 508-771-5150 x101.
