The MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board is accepting nominations for its Annual Age Forward Employer Awards now through June 15th. Winners will be announced at the agency’s annual Age Forward Employer Awards breakfast in September.
An Age Forward Employer recognizes the value of the experienced (older) worker and embraces the opportunity of having a multigenerational workplace. Some of the practices implemented by Age Forward employers could include, but are not limited to, offering flex hours, telecommuting, phased retirement, encouraging mentor relationships, offering Wellness Programs, recruiting experienced (older) workers, cross-training all workers, allowing employees to swap shifts, creating new paths of advancement within a business, redesigning jobs to accommodate changing physical abilities, enlisting experienced workers to strategically retrain and transfer a business’ networks and knowledge across generations, rewarding employees who model work ethic and emotional intelligence for others, and ensuring that training and development opportunities are offered to workers of all ages.
