NWS: A Cloudy, Rainy Tuesday

The expected axis of heaviest rainfall for today and tonight has shifted farther south. There is still a threat for locally heavy rainfall, particularly across southern Rhode Island and portions of southeast Massachusetts. Here is our latest rainfall forecast. This rainfall could lead to localized flooding.

Isolated thunderstorms could also produce some gusty winds later this afternoon and evening.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Southwest wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 3am, then showers likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 68. Southwest wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Wednesday
Showers likely, mainly before 7am. Patchy fog between 9am and noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. North wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
