1911: Resorts still crowded as the season wanes

NY Times reports on our tourism success over a century ago

A story in the New York Times on this day began:

Although the Summer season on Cape Cod is fast drawing to a close, there is as yet no perceptible decrease in the number of visitors at nay of the resorts.

The summer folk have had plenty to keep them busy this week: there have been many lawn parties, fairs, festivals, clambakes, card parties and many have played golf, tennis and baseball...

It was good news then for the tourism industry and would still be good news now.
