Longtime master bookbinder Pamela Talin-Bryant will present her insightful and important “Taking Care of Your Book Collection” talk September 7 at 2pm at Dennis Memorial Library as part of this year’s Dennis Historical Society Lecture Series.

Talin-Bryant of Talin Bookbindery in Yarmouth Port will provide best practices for what book lovers should and should not do to safeguard their cherished volumes, including suggestions for protecting books from destructive and damaging sunlight. She will also explain the various styles of binding, including decorative cloth, full leather, three-quarter leather, half-leather, and quarter-leather. Attendees are invited to bring books from their personal collection for Talin-Bryant to evaluate: although she does not provide appraisals, she can and will make suggestions on ways to repair and enhance bookbindings for modern and antique editions.

Dennis Memorial Library, co-sponsor of this event, is located at 1020 Old Bass River Road in Dennis Village. A $5 donation is recommended.
