State Police ID Victim in Yarmouth Fatal Crash

The victim of the fatal crash early this morning has been identified as Paul Lowney, 60, of West Yarmouth.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. No other information is available at this time.

Official Statement from Mass. State Police:

At approximately 5:30 a.m., Troopers from the State Police-Yarmouth Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 6 eastbound, east of Exit 6 in Yarmouth that resulted in the death of the operator.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2013 Ford Escape went out of control, for reasons still undervestigation, and rolled over into the median.  The sole occupant, a 60-year-old man from West Yarmouth, was determined deceased at the scene.  His name is being withheld until next of kin is notified.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted on scene by MassDOT, and Yarmouth Police, Fire and EMS.

The left travel lane and Exit 8 Eastbound on ramp are closed to allow investigation of the crash scene.
