EVEN IF YOU LIVE IN FALMOUTH!

 

Once again our resident know it all nothing has treated us to another sampling of his deep seated ignorance. Lacking any understanding of the definition of “human rights violations’ would ordinarily preclude and dissuade a person of average intelligence from making such outlandish remarks but we can always count he who was  “Voted Most Irritating” to come through. This time however it is in his capacity of one of Falmouth's "Town Fathers", so to speak. Yes Falmouth, he [Richard Latimer] is included in the decision making process that affects you all.

Now a little clarity on what human rights covers…..

Definition of HUMAN RIGHTS from United for Human Rights

: rights regarded as belonging fundamentally to all persons

Rights that belong to an individual as a consequence of being human. Human rights are based on the principle of respect for the individual. Their fundamental assumption is that each person is a moral and rational being who deserves to be treated with dignity. They are called human rights because they are universal. Whereas nations or specialized groups enjoy specific rights that apply only to them, human rights are the rights to which everyone is entitled—no matter who they are or where they live—simply because they are alive.

Definition of  human rights from Merriam Webster:

Human Rights: noun
The rights you have simply because you are human.

And one of  Amnesty International's catagories:

Restricted in their freedom of expression in at least 77 countries

So it is blatantly obvious  to any intelligent person that “human rights” covers more than just "…mass murder, concentration camps, midnight assassinations, etc.” but if the need to push a ideological agenda based on bad science exists,  change the subject and deride the opposition.

Furthermore, the principles on which our nation broke from the motherland should be more than enough to justify Mr. Moriarty’s statement …..We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Once again The Laws of Nature and Nature's God trump any government intrusion into our personal lives or at least should.

So is Mr. Moriarty’s pursuit of happiness being violated by a poor siting decision by the local government? 

I for one would have to agree his quality of life has been degraded whereas the government is supposed to be “of the people, by the people, for the people" and  "shall not perish from the earth.”? Now here we see the concern for those affected by the turbine from someone chosen to represent their best interests…..

 Latimer the humanitarian shows his concern for his fellow Falmouthites:

 “To call the alleged "wind turbine syndrome"* the equivalent of mass murder, concentration camps, midnight assassinations, etc., is like equating a nosebleed with a cerebral hemorrhage, which any M.D. would diagnose as hysteria while applying the medically appropriate remedy for nosebleed.”

Has Mr. Moriarty’s character being impugned by a representative of  the local government?

“To mention the wind turbines on Thomas Landers Road as an issue of "human rights" against this background is actually much worse than hyperbole, it is dishonest and disrespectful of the real suffering others have had to endure.”

So who equated the effects of the wind turbine to  “…mass murder, concentration camps, midnight assassinations, etc.”? Who is being "dishonest and disrespectful"? Remember now, "Human rights are based on the principle of respect for the individual."  Last I checked Mr. Latimer worked for Mr. Moriarty et. al.

 *FYI,  Latimer lives about 5 miles “as the crow flies” from said turbine, aka.....

"Can't hear it from my house".

Not knowing when to quit.....

Latimer the aeronautical engineer:

“Also, moving the turbines is out because the only open space they could be moved to far enough away from Falmouth residences is too close to Base residences, plus there are real FAA issues concerning air traffic safety there -as opposed to the bogus issues being raised about Cape Wind.”

Perhaps he could educate his constituents on air traffic safety and radar interference.

 Latimer the economist:

“The only realistic option that gets us additional value back for the millions that will have to be spent in any case, plus keeping the benefit of our investment so far, is to
buy or take surrounding properties in order to create both a buffer zone and provide land for additional clean energy installations such as large-scale solar panels. Combine that with an emerging state-of-the-art liquid battery facility, and the Town might come damned close to energy independence.”

Spending millions to make thousands is a rather bazaar economic plan, somewhat akin to “buy high…..sell low”.

Latimer the climatologist:

"There are none so blind as those who will not see, e.g. Marie Jane who pretends not to understand how burning fossil fuels has been a world class catastrophe, not only with worldwide health effects that make "wind turbine syndrome" look like a runny nose, but massive climate change that has wrought widespread ecological disaster, most recently the devastation of New York and New Jersey by Hurricane Sandy. The scientific consensus on that is solid*, that such high potency storms are the result of rising global temperatures, evidenced by glacial melting and shrinking of the polar ice caps. But Marie Jane can't see that, because it doesn't fit into her hysterical scenario about Town Meeting violating her "human rights" by not shutting down the wind turbines on Thos. Landers Road."

*Actually it's not but that's another discussion and is  totally irrelevant to this one.

My take.....Latimer's misguided ideology wants it, and it's in your backyard not his, so your quality of life is of little or no concern.
