HYCC Schedule: Sept 10-16, 2017

The week of September 10-16, 2017 at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center! Check the calendar on the web site for updates and details!
PLEASE NOTE: Monday, September 11 the Cape & Islands Job Fair will be in the Gymnasium with free admission from 10AM-3PM. There will be no Open Gym on Sunday or Monday - to accommodate the event's needs for set-up and take-down. The Walking Track and Game Room will be open and available to HYCC members and day pass holders.
Be sure and mark your calendar for the 9th Annual Touch-A-Truck in the parking lot at the HYCC on Saturday, September 23 from 11AM -1PM. Admission is FREE but there is no rain date.
Finally, Fall Program Registration began for Barnstable residents this week and non-residents will be able to start enrolling Wednesday, September 13 at 8:30 AM.  There is still space available in the HYCC Skating School Learn-to-Skate and Learn to Play Hockey programs, as well as the First Aid/CPR/AED Certification class, T-Ball, Build a Bevin Skiff Sailboat, Maritime Mysteries and many more!  Affordable fun for the whole family after school and on weekends. Fall Program Registration begins on Wednesday, September 6 at 8:30 AM for Barnstable residents (Non-residents can register beginning Wednesday, September 13). Check out all the exciting activities including a new after school program at the HYCC, a First Aid/CPR/AED Certification program, Zumba, Robotics, Mountain Biking and more!  if you are registering your child online, please be sure and check that your household information is correct, including your child's age and grade! Little Bruins Learn-To-Play Hockey Program comes to Hyannis!

Families with kids age 4-9 who want to give hockey a try without the commitment of a full-season program or expense of the equipment can get started by participating in this new program sponsored by Barnstable Youth Hockey!  It's a great deal for only $100! Barnstable Senior Center offers Handmade Holiday Craft Items Saturday until 3pm

The wonderful Crafters are having a Holiday Craft Fair today at the Barnstable Senior Center located on 825 Falmouth Road (Rte. 28) in Hyannis. It's a fantastic opportunity to find some beautiful and affordable handmade gifts for friends and family. There are mittens, scarves and afghans galore, as well as some really cool gift baskets and ornaments. Please stop by if you can - all proceeds benefit the Barnstable Senior Center Sunshine Fund which helps seniors in need in our community. Help them reach their fundraising goal. Last year they raised over $7,000! The Craft Fair will run until 3pm.

HOCKEY SEASON IS HERE! Boys’ teams from Pope John Paul II and Mashpee/Upper Cape Tech and boys and girls teams from Barnstable High School have been conducting try-outs and practices and their home game seasons start this week. Tickets are sold for all varsity high school games and cost $5 for adults and $3 for students. Here are the games that are scheduled in December. 5TH ANNUAL BHS BOYS HOCKEY SKATE NIGHT: Thursday, December 13 from 6:00PM – 6:50PM. Boys and girls ages 5-12 are welcome. Bring an unwrapped toy and skate with the Barnstable Red Raiders in the Butler Rink! Skate rentals are free and each kid will get one free hot chocolate. There will be a surprise guest! The US Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots Program mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.


HOLIDAY ROCK NIGHT: Friday, December 14 from 7:30PM-9:00PM.  Calling all 4th-7th graders! Come and skate with your friends, enjoy fun games and win prizes from local businesses as you skate to the beat of popular Holiday Music under the cool new lights provided by Charlie’s Music! Admission is just $5 and skate rentals are $5. be sure to pick up your Frequent Skater Card and ask the staff to record your visits! After paying for 10 you get the eleventh visit free!  Rock Night will also take place on December 21.


HYCC SKATING SCHOOL HOLIDAY SHOW:  Saturday, December 15 at 5:00PM. Come and celebrate the holidays and see what our Learn to Skate participants have been working on! Performances by every age group from tots to adult will be presented in the Butler Rink and a special performance by competitive skaters will take place and with appearances by some very important guests, straight from the North Pole!  There will be hot cocoa and treats available and best of all, ADMISSION ISFREE! Donations will be accepted which will help pay for the sets and props for both theHoliday and Spring shows.


HYCC SKATING SCHOOL BASIC SKILLS PROGRAM. Lessons are starting this week and we have added adult learn to figure skate and adult learn to play hockey classes! HYCC SKATING SCHOOL FAMILY SKATE. Saturday, December 22. For participants of ourHYCCSkatingSchool program and their immediate families! Spend class time showing your family what you’ve learned as you skate with them on the Butler Rink ice. Skate rentals are available for $5.


HOLIDAY GIVING TREE. Bring your gently used coats, mittens, gloves, scarves and new hats to the Registration Office in our lobby for collection and we will deliver them to Cape Cod Child Development for distribution to local families in time for the cold weather!

HYANNIS SUPPORTING OUR YOUTH TASK FORCE HOMEWORK HELP. Mondays – Thursdays 3:00PM – 5:30PM.  For kids in grades 4-5. The HYCC is an enterprise account so all revenue that is generated goes right back to support the building’s operation and programs. The Hyannis Youth & Community Center (“HYCC”) is owned by the Town of Barnstable and operated by the Community Services Department. The Barnstable Recreation Division business offices are located inside the building where you can go to register for programs. TheMission of the HYCC is to provide state-of-the-art accessible facilities for a variety of recreational programs and special events, competitive sports organizations, after-school activities and opportunities for the community at large to foster educational excellence and physical growth across all generations. Amenities include twinNHL size rinks, a 12,500 sq ft wood floor gymnasium, locker rooms, multiple function rooms and catering. The HYCC is available for daily rentals or long-term contract.
