Week 6 High School Football Schedules, Predictions

Please note that the rain should be gone by game time tonight, and temperatures will drop to around 40 degrees by the end of the game. We have a Freeze Warning tonight, but that's more of a 5 AM thing. Do be careful driving if you go out early tomorrow, as it could eb slippery. If you go to the games tonight, dress warm!

FRIDAY

Marshfield at Dennis-Yarmouth, 7 PM

D-Y started poorly, but they have outscored their foes like 79-41 in the past two games. Marsh Vegas is 0-5, and looking forward to their new field being finished. Still, Vegas is no joke, and they'll be in this game to win this game. Marsh Vegas should have gotten one of the casinos, IMHO.

D-Y, 24-23

Plymouth North at Nauset, 7 PM

With all the hullabloo (or however you spell that) over #1 Barnstable, motherf***ers be sleeping on a very fine and undefeated Nauset squad.

Nauset, 30-21

#1 Barnstable at Dartmouth, 7 PM

I actually like Dartmouth and tend to root for them, but they're up against a bad gang of kids this week, and they will pay for it with an L.

Nauset, 20-7

Hingham at Silver Lake, 4 PM

Silver Lake is winless, while Hingham's sweet record is marred only by a 2-0 shutout against Medway (which, if I'm correct and I may not be, is the score they give you when you forfeit a game for some reason). It pays to bet trends, and the trend here shows Silver Lake suffering mightily.

Hingham, 14-9

Quincy at Whitman-Hanson, 7 PM

Not that this relates to football, but I was in the old Monponsett neighborhood the other day, and was sad to see that A) Pogo's closed, and B) the Bryantville Deli was bought by what looks to be a Lebanese family.

Quincy, 14-13

Dighton-Rehoboth at Bourne, 7 PM

I bet that Dighton kids snob all over Rehoboth kids, unaware that these distinctions don't matter outside of the town lines and this column.

Bourne, 20-13

Fairhaven at Seekonk, 7 PM

My wireless is acting up, not opening the links I need to pick this game accurately. So, I'll choose Fairhaven, as my friend is from there and she'll be somewhat pleased.

Fairhaven, 13-10

Wareham at Old Rochester, 7 PM

Wareham is coming to town, and OR will put up a good stand before losing.

Wareham, 21-20

East Brigewater at Cohasset, 7:30 PM

This column likes the fashionably late 7:30 start time, and rewards Cohasset with my favor.

Cohasset, 17-14

Hull at Rockland, 7 PM

I'll go with Rocky on this one, as blue-collar kids usually tool up on beach kids.

Rockland, 20-18

Mashpee at Norwell, 7 PM

Mashpee isn't coming all the way off Cape Cod to lose to a mall town.

Mashpee, 27-14

Cape Cod Tech at Randolph, 7PM

The game would be more fun if Cape Cod Tech could invent and legally utilize tech-type gadgets, like the Automatic Field Goal Sterrer-Inner and the Aversive Therapy Referee Shock collar.

Randolph, 16-15

Cardinal Spellman at Martha's Vineyard, 6:30 PM

Should be a nice, windy, seasicky boat ride for the Cardinal's kids.

MV, 14-10

Taunton at Oliver Ames, 7 PM

Things could be going better for Taunton, but I see them pulling it together this week and handling the Easton kids.

Taunton, 20-10

Middleborough at North Quincy, 7 PM

I used to live in North Quincy, so I'll give them the duke since I can't access records and have no idea what either team is doing this season.

NQ, 20-19

SATURDAY

Plymouth South at Sandwich, 7 PM

Sandwich is 4-1, and their only loss was when they played te #1 team in the state and perhaps New England. P-South, is, uhm, not.

Sandwich, 21-14

Cathedral at Pope John Paul II, 7 PM

In the great rock-paper-scissors game I play when I know neither of the teams, Popes beat Cathedrals.

PJP2, 16-14

Nantucket at West Bridgewater, 1 PM

West bridgewater is actually an island if you count things like streams and sewer lines and so forth, so the Grey Lady should be right at home there.

Nantucket, 10-9

Upper Cape at South Shore Voke Tech, 3 PM

Our tech school is better than their tech school.

UCT, 13-9

Scituate at Hanover, 10 AM

Big ups to Hangover for keeping it Old School with that sweet 10 AM starting time.

Scituate, 20-17

Carver at Abington, 7 PM

Abby is taking no shorts, and Carver's superpowers will be latent until the cranberry harvest.

Abby, 17-12

#3 Duxbury at Pembroke, 1 PM

Pembroke is a nice town and we're very proud of them for getting their own school (Silver Lake just isn't the same without them), but the Green Dragons are playing for their 31st win in a row. You want to have a damned good reason to bet against Duxbury this decade.

Duxbuy, 38-14
