Albert J. Mullen (age 86), much beloved husband of Jeanette Mullen for 62 years passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on August 24, 2015 after a short illness. Born and raised in Brockton, MA before moving to East Bridgewater, MA 17 years ago. He was the son of the late Christopher and Elsie Mullen. Al owned and operated Al’s Dairy Cone in Brockton for many years. He was a communicant of St. John’s Church in East Bridgewater. He was a member of the “Cupid Squares” square dance club for 30 years.
Al was an avid guitarist. Within the last 8 years he formed the Music Makers with his good friend Paul Gastonguay playing the mandolin, and his wife Jeanette as vocalist. The Music Makers entertained at many nursing homes and senior centers. Al and his wife enjoyed extensive traveling before wintering for 23 years in Lady Lake, FL.
In addition to his wife Jeanette, Al is survived by his sister Patricia Fruzzetti of North Easton, MA and the late Ann Gianunzio, his children William (and Alice) Mullen of Lunenburg, MA, Linda (and Bruce) Malone of West Bridgewater, MA, and Edward (and Kathy) Mullen of Panama City Beach, FL. He was grandfather of Patrick and Christie Mullen, Whitney Erquitt and the late Vicki Lucier, and great grandfather of Kalee Lucier-Hill and Skyler Shiner.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 27th from 4-7pm in the EAST Bridgewater Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home at 35 Spring Street, East Bridgewater, MA.
A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home Friday, August 28th at 10:30 am.
Burial at Central Cemetery East Bridgewater.
