Geraldine "Jerry" (Curtis) Bennett, 87, of West Hyannisport, MA died gracefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. She was born in New Harbor, ME to the late Anna H. (Gruden) and LaForest Curtis and was a proud descendent of the Curtis family, early settlers of Pemaquid Point, ME.Geraldine graduated with a civil engineering degree and worked for Engineering Research that did contract work for the Naval Department. While working at the Pentagon she met the love of her life in 1950, Lt. Col. Wesley E. Bennett. They had 32 wonderful years together before his passing in 1987. Geraldine was very proud of her late husband who had an illustrious career in the Air Force serving in WWII, Korea and the Vietnam Wars. He was the last official base commander at Otis when it was an active Air Force Base.In her later years, Geraldine worked as a Real Estate Broker. In her leisure she was a member of the American Contract Bridge League and was a Bronze Master in Bridge. She was an avid golfer and exercised the scoring rules for the PGA and LPGA. She had the privilege of scoring for Jack Nicklaus at the Senior Tour in Pennsylvania. Geraldine enjoyed her social memberships with the Hyannis Yacht Club, Hyannisport Club and The Beach Club. She loved her church and was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Geraldine is also predeceased by her dear sister Lorraine C. Phifer. She is survived by her loving daughter Kimberley B. Schott, her dear brother LaForest Curtis, her adored grandchildren Alexandra E. Schott and Eric O. Schott and her beloved companion Gerardo Tempesta. Geraldine is also survived by 2 nieces and 4 nephews. Friends and Relatives are invited to attend a 10am Funeral Mass Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier RC Church 347 South St. Hyannis, MA 02601 with burial to follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery Connery Avenue Bourne, MA.Services are under the direction of Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home 160 W.
