John A. MacDonald, 89, of Falmouth, formerly of Milton, died on Thursday, January 14, 2016. Born in Boston on July 23, 1926 to the late John & Edith (Garvey) McDonald of West Roxbury. He was a graduate of English High School and graduated from Boston College class of 1951. He was a WWII Naval Veteran and served on an LST. A retired employee of Norfolk County Commissioners Office. He belonged to the Falmouth Knights of Columbus. He played golf and bowled with AARP.
He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Sprague) and Marion (Tree); dear brother of the late Kenneth McDonald. He is survived by his sister Joanne McDonald of East Falmouth; his sons, Gary (Sue) MacDonald of Hamden CT, and Dr. Tobey (Kelly) MacDonald of Decatur GA; his daughters, Pamela Collins-Shimkus and stepdaughter Carol Marshall (Bill) of Hingham MA; and 8 grandchildren: Michelle and John Collins, Lauren and Ryan MacDonald, Oliver and Stella MacDonald, and Eric and Charlotte Marshall.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation services from 10-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan 19th at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 19th at St. Patrick’s Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Church in Falmouth or perform a good deed in his memory for someone in need.
