Richard “Richie” R. Voci, Sr., 72, of East Bridgewater died peacefully on Oct. 5th while surrounded by his family.
Richard grew up in Brockton and started working at an early age. He married the late Charlene “Chickie” (Wasney) Voci on Sept 24, 1961 and they raised their children in East Bridgewater. When Richie was younger he was very active with his kids activities and sports. During the 1960’s he worked for Randy Shoe Company then in the 70’s he joined the Naval Reserves and worked with his brother in law as a carpenter Professional Contractors. For over 20 years Richie worked for Shaw’s Distribution Warehouse in East Bridgewater and he also volunteered his time at the East Bridgewater Assessors Office.
Despite Richie experiencing a traumatic neck injury sustained in a swimming accident 25 years ago, he and Chickie still had a thriving and fun marriage. His determination coupled with her enthusiasm brought them all over, traveling and sightseeing, attending their grand children’s sporting events, and never missing a family event. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan, an experienced bow hunter (even in his wheelchair), and he always loved freshwater fishing. But his most cherished love was spending time with his family.
