Robert "Bob" Hirtle Morse of Orleans, Massachusetts, formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine Dymarczyk Morse for 49 years. Bob was born in June of 1942 to Opal Hirtle Morse of Worcester and the late Robert Nutter Morse. He was a devoted and loving father to Alyson Lawson and her husband Curtis, and Meredith Sweet and her husband David. Bob was much loved by his grandchildren Sophia Anastasia Sweet and Jonathan Robert Sweet.He was a loving brother to sister Carolyn DeVries and his late brother Wayne Morse. Bob leaves behind many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as nieces and nephews who love him dearly. He will be missed by his dedicated friends both in Massachusetts and in Florida. Bob graduated from West Boylston High School in 1960 and received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1964. He founded and was president of Traffic Systems Company, and Fiber Optic Sales Company for 40 years, both located in Worcester, Massachusetts.Bob's greatest joy was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted tennis player who enjoyed playing golf, cross-country skiing, cycling and kayaking. Bob was an avid reader and music lover. He enjoyed spending winters in Jupiter, Florida for the past 15 years. Bob was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was also a member of the Orleans Yacht Club and was a 35 year member of the Institute of Traffic Engineers.We will miss his witty sense of humor, intelligence, charm, smile, warmth, loving family dedication, funny limericks, and the smell of his cigars.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to National Brain Tumor Society (www.braintumor.org), 55 Chapel Street, Suite 200, Newton, Massachusetts, 02458.Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18 from 4 to 7 pm at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldridge Park Way, Orleans Massachusetts. A funeral mass will be offered Saturday September 19 at 11 am at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans Massachusetts.
