From the National Weather Service:
We're in for one more day of heat and humidity in southern New England today before some relief arrives by the weekend.
Heat Advisories are in effect for Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts where the apparent temperature (combination of temperature and humidity) will reach 95 to 100 degrees this afternoon. Elsewhere, the apparent temperature will be in the 80s to low 90s.
It's important to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activities, and try to find shade or air conditioning if possible!
For those who will be outside, be aware that scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening, mainly between 3 PM and 8 PM. Some of the storms may produce damaging winds and minor urban flooding.
It's always best to go indoors or in a vehicle when thunderstorms approach. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Wait 30 minutes after the storm passes to resume outdoor activities.
