Rescuers Scrambled in Falmouth Following Report of Missing Swimmer

Dive team activated, Sheriff's Marine Unit searched Buzzards Bay...

From the Falmouth Police Department (verbatim):

At approximately 7:20 PM, the Falmouth Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding a missing swimmer in the area of Woodneck Beach.

Falmouth Police and Falmouth Fire Rescue Departments responded to the scene.

The missing swimmer was reported to be a 14 year old Falmouth Male.

Based on the information gathered at the scene the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department’s Dive Team was activated. A search of Buzzards Bay was also initiated by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit.

After approximately 20 minutes the male was located safe in the marsh adjacent to the Beach.

The child had wandered away from his companions into the marsh area. He was never in the water during the time he was missing.
