Cape Cod Museum of Art Opens Online Viewing and Bidding for Annual Gala & Art Auction

Physical event is August 17th at the museum

The Cape Cod Museum of Art has opened online viewing and bidding for nearly 100 pieces of art from local artists, along with trips, and other exciting packages.  Online bidding will lead up to the Museum’s Annual Gala & Art Auction taking place on Saturday, August 17 at the museum.

The auction catalogue can be viewed at www.ccmoa.org/auction.  It includes artwork from renowned local artists like Douglas Hunter, Suzanne Packer and Julia O’Malley Keyes. “Experiential” items include an African Photo Safari tour; a personal tour of the State House and lunch for five with Representative Timothy Whelan; dinner for 12 at Scargo Café; and a “Night at the Museum” private party for 20 people at the Cape Cod Museum of Art.  Pre-bids can be placed online on many of the pieces through August 9. Absentee bids for selected pieces in the live auction can be obtained by contacting the museum at 508-385-4477 ext. 21.

Bidding will conclude at the Annual Gala & Art Auction on August 17, which begins with a silent auction and cocktail party from 5-7 PM, followed by a sit-down dinner and live auction. Tickets to the Gala are $75 for the Silent Auction and $150 for the Silent and Live Auction with dinner.  Guests are encouraged to dress in Roaring 20’s theme and the “best dressed” guest will be acknowledged with a bottle of champagne. Visit www.ccmoa.org/auction to purchase tickets. The Gala is the largest annual fundraiser for the museum. All proceeds directly support the CCMoA’s commitment to presenting diverse exhibitions, providing innovative educational and public programs, and caring for a collection of more than 2,000 works of art.

For bidders who want to preview the items in person, all of the artwork will be on display in the museum starting August 9th.  On Thursday, August 15 from 5-7 pm, the museum will host a special auction preview evening event, where many artists and artisans will be on hand to share their personal anecdotes about their creation with potential buyers over wine, cheese and music. The event on August 15th is complimentary to attend.
