From the Mashpee Police Department:

On December 12th at approximately 2:33 AM, The Mashpee Police Department responded to the Sea Oaks Condominiums located at 195 Falmouth Road after receiving multiple reports of a possible stabbing at that location.

Responding officers were confronted by a combative male suspect who immediately charged at them upon their arrival. After a violent struggle, the suspect was taken to Falmouth Hospital for a medical evaluation, released from the hospital but remains in Mashpee Police custody.

Further investigation at the scene revealed a 70-year-old female stabbing victim who was transported by MedFlight to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries. Police are currently awaiting an update on her status.

A second victim, a 35-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of what appeared to be an assault and battery.

This is an active and ongoing inevstigation and Mashpee Police are consulting with the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office for which specific charges will be forthcoming.

Mashpee Police were assisted by Barnstable Police, Mashpee Fire, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office. welcomes thoughtful comments and the varied opinions of our readers.
